How I got socked $500 by Jetstar for a booking mistake

A Sydney resident recently lost $500 after he made a mistake when booking a flight on a Jetstar airline.

The young man wanted to book tickets for a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast, but mistakenly indicated the wrong departure date. Immediately after he noticed his mistake, he contacted Jetstar and tried to change the reservation.

However, the airline staff informed him that he would have to pay an additional $500 to change the reservation. Less than 24 hours have passed since the initial booking, but Jetstar has not made an exception for this situation.

“I think this is complete nonsense,” the victim said. – “I made a mistake in my booking and, of course, I didn’t want to buy a new ticket. They could have allowed me to change the booking at no additional cost, given that I noticed the error just 15-20 minutes after making the booking.”

I needed to be landing at Auckland Airport on May 10. Instead, I had booked a flight to Christchurch

Jetstar representatives declined to comment on the incident specifically, but confirmed that, in accordance with their booking change rules, an additional fee may be charged.

“We always try to help our passengers, but we cannot violate our terms and conditions,” Jetstar said in a statement.

This case highlights the importance of careful familiarization with the airline’s rules when booking plane tickets. Any changes to the booking may lead to additional costs, so you need to double check all the details before confirming the booking to avoid losing money and nerves.
