Scarlett Johansson has revealed the intense emotional turmoil she experienced after losing a coveted movie role to Sandra Bullock. The actress spoke openly about her disappointment and feeling of hopelessness after missing out on the part that had been a dream for her.

While Johansson didn’t specify which movie she was referring to, it’s believed to be the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the 2009 drama “The Blind Side.” Bullock ultimately won the Best Actress Oscar for the role, and the film was a huge commercial and critical success.
“I was devastated,” Johansson told Vanity Fair of her reaction to not getting the role. “It was between me and her. I thought, ‘Oh, it’s over now.'”

The actress said she was struggling with her identity at the time, including her place in the movie industry. “I was living in New York at the time, and I was like, ‘This is it for me. I’m never going to get that kind of role. I’m sick of doing these parts where I’m just the girl next door. I want to play something gritty and interesting,'” she said.
To move past her disappointment, Johansson poured herself into other projects, including the sci-fi thriller “Under the Skin” and the Broadway revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” She eventually won a Best Actress Tony Award for her role in the latter.

Today, Johansson is one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, having starred in blockbusters like “The Avengers” and “Captain America” franchises. However, the memory of that “devastating” loss still lingers.
“I’m still trying to let that one go,” she said. “It was really hard for me.”
